The Cobb County Jail Complex is situated at 1825 County Services Road and is a pretrial facility. It has about one million square feet under the roof. The total bed capacity of the Detention facility is 3,077. The commander of the Detention Center is Colonel Michael A. Williams.

The jail system includes a work deployment center that houses non-violent under-sentence detainees. This center includes supervised county work crews and work release inmates. Work-release inmates are sentenced detainees who serve their sentence in a minimum security facility and are released daily to work.

Included in the jail facility is a Records and Identification Unit that has the responsibility of maintaining arrest and incarceration records, fingerprints, photographs, and court documents. This site also sends out record data and photographs when asked for by GCIC and NCIC rules.

Visitation can be scheduled any day except Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Inmates are limited to one visit per week with a maximum of two visitors per visit. (changed to four visitors per visit this year). Visitors must register online at GTL Visit Me/24 hours a day 7 days a week. The visits are one hour and 30 minutes. Late check is allowed up until 15 minutes past the hour.

Visitors must be dressed appropriately and conservatively. No halter or tank tops, see-through clothing, bare midriffs, or spaghetti straps. Shoes must be worn at all times. Food, drinks, and cell phones are prohibited in the visitation area.
